Who we are and What we do
Kim Hastie is the License Commissioner for Mobile County. The office of the License
Commissioner is responsible for the collection and distribution of various types
of licenses, sales and use tax. Among the many licenses issued are motor vehicle
tag and title registrations, manufactured home decals, boat registrations, handicap
decals, business licenses and renewal of driver licenses. The License Commissioner's
office employs approximately 100 employees to carry out its duties, and it operates
four locations throughout the County of Mobile. Sites are: Michael Square, Theodore
Oaks, Eight Mile, Downtown, and a part-time operation in Citronelle.
How to apply for a job
Most of our job openings are for tag and title clerks. These employees wait on the
public registering and renewing license plates. The entry level position is Office
Assistant 1 with a starting salary of $24,098.29 annually, plus a $5.00 subsistence
pay for working an eight hour day.

County Personnel Board, http://www.personnelboard.org, located at 1809 Government
Street.
The Personnel Board's hours of operation are as follows: Monday through Friday -
8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
You must take your driver license and social security card with you to the Personnel
Board.
Inform front desk personnel that you want to complete an application for the position
of Office Assistant 1. After filling out the application, the Personnel Board will
notify you by mail as to when to return to take a written examination. After passing
the written test, you will be notified to return for an interview. When the Personnel
Board completes the testing and interviewing process, all candidates are ranked.
It is at that time that the Personnel Board will provide the License Commissioner's
office with a list of candidates from which we can then interview and hire.

requirement: 35 wpm.
